Sometimes growth means looking inside, not outside. At Balcia, we encourage our people to explore new paths. Today, we share Nerijus's story – an internal recruitment journey that led him to the role of Lawyer.

1. What was your journey at Balcia before changing positions?
Nerijus: My journey at Balcia started almost two years ago. I began working as a Junior Claims Administration Specialist, as insurance was a completely new field for me. However, after just seven months, when a new position was being created, I was offered the role of a Recovery Specialist. I worked as a Recovery Specialist for nearly eleven months, until I became a Legal Counsel and moved from the Claims Department to the Legal Department.

2. What made you decide to take part in internal recruitment?
Nerijus: To be honest, no one was initially being sought for a legal counsel position, but the managers noticed that my work as a Recovery Specialist was starting to feel monotonous for me. I wanted more legal work, as I am a lawyer by education and hold a Master’s degree in Law. Therefore, during discussions it was decided to create an additional legal counsel position so that I could continue working at Balcia and do what I am interested in and what I am qualified for.

3. Which skills from your previous roles have been most useful in your new one?
Nerijus: My experience in administering claims cases, as well as working with recovery cases, has given me a great deal of practical knowledge. In my previous roles, I thoroughly learned the entire claims process. I also learned how to work with the system, how to plan my tasks, and how to set priorities effectively.

4. What was the most interesting part of changing positions?
Nerijus: I really wanted to become a legal counsel at Balcia, and I am happy that this opportunity arose. I am glad that I can continue working here and gain new skills and experience, and that I can use my knowledge to be useful to Balcia as a company and to my colleagues. I enjoy learning new things, and I am pleased that Balcia provides such opportunities.

5. What do you like most about working at Balcia and our culture?
Nerijus: What I like most are my colleagues and the overall atmosphere. I really appreciate that the company is active, constantly organizes various events, and encourages employees to take part in them. I am glad that Balcia’s work culture is based on trust and mutual support. Colleagues trust one another and try to support or help when challenges arise. Working at Balcia is truly never boring.

6. What one piece of advice would you give to someone considering a change of position within the company?
Nerijus: If you feel that you want new challenges and are considering a change of position at Balcia, I would advise you not to hesitate and to definitely try yourself in a new role. Balcia offers opportunities to grow and develop within the company together with colleagues you already know well and who support you, so it would be a shame not to take advantage of this opportunity!
