Why employee referrals build stronger teams
Some people join Balcia through recruitment processes. Others arrive here because someone who already knows our culture says:
“I think you’d really fit in here.”
And honestly? Those recommendations often turn into something bigger than just a successful hire. They help build trust faster, strengthen collaboration, and bring people into teams where they already feel connected from day one.
That’s why our Talent Referral Program has been an important part of how we grow our teams for a long time now. Because when employees recommend someone, they’re not only thinking about skills or experience. They’re thinking about personality, mindset, energy, and whether this person will genuinely work well with others.
Why referrals matter
A good referral creates trust before the first workday even begins.
People join the company already knowing someone, understanding the culture a little better, and feeling more confident in their new environment.
And the impact doesn’t stop there. Teams built through referrals often collaborate more naturally, communicate more openly, and adapt quicker to the pace of daily work.
We can already see the effect ourselves - in 2025 alone, 15 people joined Balcia through employee referrals in Latvia, 7 in Poland, 3 in Lithuania, and 2 in Estonia. And behind every one of those hires, there was a colleague who simply thought:
“This person would be great here.”
A thank-you that grows with every recommendation
Of course, helping build great teams deserves recognition too.
Employees who recommend a candidate that joins Balcia and successfully passes their probation period receive a bonus starting from 500 EUR. And because one great recommendation often leads to another, the reward increases with the number of successful referrals made throughout the year.
But the experience doesn’t end there.
New employees hired through referrals also receive 500 Balcia Coins after their probation period - our internal reward currency that can be exchanged for Balcia merch, gadgets, experiences, and even an extra day off.
More than recruitment
At its core, the Talent Referral Program isn’t really about bonuses.
It’s about people wanting to work with other great people.
It’s about trust strong enough to say:
“Come work with us.”
And in a company like Balcia, where culture and teamwork matter just as much as results, that kind of recommendation means much more than simply forwarding a CV.
