Position

This is a role where strategic product thinking meets hands-on execution — shaping products that feel modern, flexible, and easy to choose, while performing strongly on the numbers. You will own and grow Balcia’s Personal Lines products across multiple countries, ensuring consistency where it matters and flexibility where markets differ. You will translate customer needs, behavioural insights, and lifestyle trends into products that customers understand, value, and trust. The ambition of this role is to turn complexity into competitive advantage — building strong product frameworks while keeping space for innovation, speed, and experimentation.

Get ready to:

  • Lead and grow Balcia’s Personal Lines portfolio (Travel, Accidents, Junior accidents and Extreme accidents) across multiple markets.
  • Own the product strategy end-to-end, setting ambitious targets for growth, conversion, loss ratio, and combined ratio.
  • Build deep customer and lifestyle insights, identifying unmet needs and translating them into clear product opportunities.
  • Drive end-to-end product design, including coverages and modular structures; wordings and underwriting rules; eligibility criteria and pricing logic in close collaboration with Actuarial and Underwriting teams.
  • Prepare business cases and go-to-market plans, ensuring products are both commercially strong and customer-friendly.
  • Monitor portfolio performance across markets: frequency, severity, average premium, claims trends; performance by segment, channel, and geography; initiate corrective actions (pricing, underwriting appetite, discounts, product adjustments).
  • Strengthen digital journeys and distribution channels, ensuring smooth, intuitive experiences from quote to policy issuance.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance while standardizing product frameworks and governance across countries.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop cross-country product teams, fostering ownership, accountability, and high performance.
  • Manage external partners and vendors, including rating engines and data providers.
  • Coordinate closely with reinsurance management.

About you:

  • Complex challenges energize you — you enjoy turning ambiguity into clarity.
  • You take full ownership, bring energy into your work, and care deeply about outcomes.
  • You are collaborative and supportive, yet confident in making decisions.
  • You learn fast, pay attention to detail, and handle sensitive information with care.
  • You are results-driven, but never at the expense of customer value.
  • You enjoy building products that people actually want to use.

Sounds familiar? Then this might be your next move.

To fit in here you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager in insurance.
  • 3+ years of people management experience (cross-country or international experience is a strong advantage).
  • Strong understanding of pricing and segmentation; rating factor governance; deployment via rating engines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Very good English (written and spoken).
  • Medical background is a plus.

Reasons why you’ll love it here

Work from our modern Balcia offices in Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia or Wiesbaden, depends on where you are from, with hybrid and remote options.

We believe in trust, ownership, and freedom. Our flat structure means less micromanagement and more room for impact, creativity, and meaningful decision-making. Your goals are aligned with company success, and performance is recognized and rewarded.

Balcia is redefining insurance — making it modern, energetic, and full of momentum. You’ll be part of ambitious projects, cross-market collaboration, and continuous innovation.

You’ll receive a competitive salary starting at 4,700 EUR gross (final offer depends on country tax specifics and candidate’s experience), plus flexible benefits including health insurance, recharge days, discounts on Balcia products, and more. And because we love surprises, our benefits evolve every year.
