On November 7, Balcia returned to the "Uzdrīksties Uzvarēt" entrepreneurship inspiration conference — a name that literally means “Dare to Win” in Latvian. And that’s exactly the spirit of the event: giving high school students the courage to explore new paths, discover modern workplaces and meet companies shaping the future.
The conference took place at Ķīpsala conference hall, buzzing with activity from early morning. One part of the venue hosted inspiring speakers on the main stage, while the other transformed into a large “career playground” filled with company booths.

Our Booth: Where Curiosity Meets Competition
This year, our Balcia stand turned into a crowd magnet.
Students formed a line that lasted all day long just to try our challenge: a fast-paced falling sticks game built on a magnetic surface. Simple? Yes. Competitive? Very. Fun? Absolutely.
While the sticks fell, so did the barriers — students jumped into conversations with our team, asked about what we do in the tech-insurance world, and shared their thoughts in our Gen Z survey, helping us better understand what the next generation values.
Our message was simple:
Balcia is not the rigid, traditional insurance stereotype — we are fast, modern, dynamic, and open to fresh ideas.
Why We Were There
Events like “Uzdrīksties Uzvarēt” matter to us because:
young people reshape industries — and we want to be the company where they feel empowered to do that.
Balcia has been in the insurance world for years, but with a forward-thinking, tech-driven mindset. Whether we’re at university career days, innovation fairs or high school conferences, we bring the same message:
- we are a tech-first insurance company,
- we enjoy experimenting with interactive, fun formats,
- we welcome fresh minds and bold thinkers,
- and yes — summer internships and student opportunities are very much part of our vision.
For many students, this event was the first moment they saw an insurance company that feels modern, approachable and surprisingly fun. Mission accomplished.
A Day That Energised Us Too
We didn’t take part in panels this time, but spending the entire day at our stand was more than enough to fill us with energy. The enthusiasm, competitive spirit and genuine conversations reminded us why we keep returning.
If one thing became clear, it’s that the next generation is bold, curious and unafraid to ask questions — and that’s exactly the mindset we hope to see in Balcia’s future team members.

See You Next Year
It was our second time at Uzdrīksties Uzvarēt — and definitely not the last.
We left the venue with smiling faces, dozens of completed surveys and a box of falling sticks that (somehow) survived the day.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stand, played with us, talked with us or simply passed by and smiled.
We’ll be back — with more ideas, more energy and (most likely) more games.
