How the journey began
“Insurance has always seemed like an exciting and responsible field to me,” says Gerti-Carmen. “Since I already had experience in customer service, I wanted to see if that could be my way to get a foot in the door.”
First surprises
Her first days coincided with the rollout of a new internal program. “A colleague from another branch came to introduce the updates, and because of that, there was an unusually high number of meetings. The most surprising part was definitely the sheer amount of new information coming in at once,” she recalls.
100 days of learning
Diving into the insurance world from scratch has been both fascinating and educational. “I started from zero, and even on my hundredth day, I still encounter situations I’ve never seen before,” she admits.
Biggest challenge
One of the biggest hurdles has been transitioning from home life with children to the fast pace of full-time work. “Moving from being at home with kids to an intense work rhythm wasn’t easy. At the same time, I enjoy these different roles, and it’s great to realize that I can handle more than I initially thought.”
A team that sticks together
Gerti-Carmen describes the Balcia Estonia team in two words: supportive and united. "The open office layout makes it easy to walk over to a colleague’s desk and quickly consult on urgent matters. Our team is still relatively new, and I believe our rapid growth gives us a great advantage to strengthen and move forward together.”
“None of my questions have gone unanswered.
Small steps, big expectations
Although 100 days is a short time for major achievements, Gerti-Carmen is eager to contribute more. “As my knowledge grows, so does my confidence. I’m looking forward to new cases that will broaden my perspective and help me develop the expertise needed to solve them.”
